US equity markets struggled higher a day after the Dow Jones suffered its largest one-day decline in nearly nine months.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 300 points, or 1.1%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rose 0.70% and 0.27% respectively.
