One of the five unions representing Stop and Shop workers will meet early Saturday morning to take a strike vote.

Local 1445, representing the Boston area, will vote at 9 o'clock.

The contract between the unions of United Food and Trade Workers expired Saturday at midnight.

If he succeeds, this local may call a strike at any time for its members.

All sections of the Local are asking their members to continue working during the contract talks.

There is also a UFCW Local that represents the Providence area.

The five unions represent more than 30,000 Stop and Shop workers.
