Stranger Things and Ghostbusters meet again.

By Colin Stevens

The upcoming Ghostbusters can be one of the two stars: Stranger Things Finn Wolfhard and Infinity War's Carrie Coon.

Per Variety, the two actors are still in talks with Sony for their roles, though both appear to be likely candidates. Sources tell the story of the movie will be played by one of his friends and one played by Wolfhard. Though rumors suggest Reitman was hesitant about a Stranger Things cast member, considering the show's references to Ghostbusters, he and executives were reportedly "blown away" by Wolfhard's audition.

Both Wolfhard and Coon have been busy. Wolfhard recently finished filming the third season of Stranger Things, reprising his role as Mike Wheeler, and is expected to return for: Chapter 2 in the fall. Coon Portrayed Proxima Midnight, one of the "Children of Thanos," in Avengers: Infinity War.She was also filming the upcoming thriller The Nest.

The Ghostbusters sequel, which is being co-written by Reitman and Gil Kenan, is expected to begin shooting this summer, and is aiming for a summer 2020 release.

Wolfhard being cast in the movie with the movie's main characters will be children. At the time, they were 12-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl: Wolfhard is currently 16 years old, but he has also been a young boy in Stranger Things, so it might not be much of a stretch.
