With Strange things With Season 4 turned upside down by COVID-19, fans can rest assured the show will eventually continue – and stay longer than some had expected.
In a new interview, series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer dismissed assumptions that the delayed fourth season is the last of the Netflix phenomenon.
“Season 4 won’t be the end,” said EP Ross Duffer The Hollywood Reporter (by Nerdist). “We know what the end is and we know when it will be. [The coronavirus pandemic] gave us time to look to the future, to figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill it out gave us a better idea of how much time we need to tell this story.
The Duffer brothers haven’t revealed how long they’ve been planning on the show. A Netflix rep declined to comment.
Production on season 4 of Strange things had been underway for “a few weeks” when the COVID-19 pandemic “set in and we were arrested” in March, co-star David Harbor recently revealed. As for the schedule for restarting production, “we don’t really know what the future holds”, he conceded at the time. “I do not want anybody knows. We all play by ear. We want to be operational as soon as possible. “
What do we know about season 4 so far? Well, Harbor’s presumed dead Hopper is still alive, albeit imprisoned in Russia (as seen in a teaser video). On the casting front, The iron Throne Former Tom Wlaschiha will play one of Hopper’s Russian Guardians, while Brett Gelman and Priah Ferguson – aka journalist turned conspiracy theorist Murray Bauman and Lucas’ sassy little sister Erica Sinclair respectively – have been raised to the rank of regulars at the series.
