Streamers Had To Disable Fortnite’s Galactus Event Due To AC / DC

Twitch streamers hoping to partake in the excitement of Fortnite today faced an unexpected hurdle. Epic Games have announced that they have no way of preventing clips from today’s Galactus event from being reported by Twitch’s copyright detection systems, and it turns out that this was due to the use of an AC / DC song. This has led streamers such as DrLupo to temporarily cut off the game’s audio in order to avoid encountering issues.

“For Twitch creators broadcasting the Galactus event: Due to a lack of similar solutions to Lickd, we cannot prevent your VOD / clip content from being flagged by the platform’s copyright detection systems. -form, “read a tweet from Epic Games ahead of the event. “The general recommendation is to mute your VoDs or completely disable VOD / clips to best protect yourself against any type of complaint or strike.”

Hypex, a notable Fortnite leaker, said in advance that the copyright issues would only come from a small segment of the event, and it turned out to be true. “Fun fact for streamers: Not the whole event is copyrighted music, just a 20-30 second part, and it’s going to be so obvious to notice,” they tweeted. “So I suggest you prepare a keyboard shortcut to mute the game sound in OBS!”

As part of the player assault on Galactus, a song from AC / DC’s new album was played during a flight sequence from Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. The song “Demon Fire” premiered as part of the album released in mid-November. It was a brief part of the overall event, which has now made Fortnite unplayable until the start of Season 5.

Copyright claims have become a major issue for Twitch streamers this year. Streamers received numerous DMCA notifications to play recorded music in the background of their streams and were forced to manually delete old clips that could potentially infringe copyright. Twitch apologized for its poor response to the issue last month.
