Jessica Andrade had to endure a lot of punishments early last night (Saturday, May 11, 2019) at UFC 237 live on ESPN + PPV from inside the Youth Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but she ended up putting end the straw woman's champion Rose Namajunas via KO in the second round (slam).
Namajunas did all the work at first. She really began to embody Andrade with combinations and jabs from all angles, which bothered the challenger's eye. The champion even had one knee at the end of the first round that sent Andrade to the canvas.
The second round was a real reversal of the script. Andrade began to hit hard as she entered the interior of Namajunas and closed the advantage of the reach. During an exchange along the cage, Namajunas threatened to attempt a kimura attempt so that Andrade would not pick her up and slap her. The champion's head rushed into the canvas and she was stunned on contact.
