I’ll be as simple as I know how. The reason it felt like I can destroy you deserved to win the other three Emmys he’s been nominated for is that he, and Michaela Coel, are better than the things that won.
I know how it sounds, and of course it’s subjective, but all the other words people use, like “urgent” or “stop” or whatever that just means… better. He absolutely should have convinced “you put the sexy back to chess” (thrill) to say the least, and all the reasons that it might not be are just… bogus, yes, but also exhausting. People now literally get shows in the same place they watch them – access shouldn’t be a problem.
Still, Michaela Coel made sure she was seen.
First of all, the dress was so good. I love the chartreuse color and the two piece set with proportions – but again, like so much of what we saw last night, it wasn’t classic per se, but simple.
It should be noted that Kaley Cuoco was also dressed in this chartreusy hue, and the two women opted for a matching shoe from head to toe.
I was so pleasantly surprised by The stewardess (which is inexplicably in the comedy category) and by Cuoco that this dress just takes it one step further by pushing me towards esteem – but no one doubted that this color belonged to someone other than Michaela last night.
So. She makes history, the first black woman to win this award, and you’ve already seen the video: she’s beautiful and strong and a little shy, even though she asks people… specifically asks writers… to do incredibly scary things:

“Write the story that scares you, that makes you feel uncertain, that isn’t comfortable. I dare you. Don’t be afraid to disappear, from her, from us, for a while, and see what comes to you in silence. ”
Michaela Coel said coming out of social media, that the energy you spend to prove you’re successful could be put into your new story, one that is going to take whatever you have to come out. She thinks you can do it. Should do it. Should be both uncomfortable and alone. And then dedicated “this story” – which means, I think, the whole series – to survivors of sexual assault.
If you are wondering how she came to be who she is, so early in her career, it’s because she isn’t afraid to be uncomfortable. She will always choose the thing that makes the story better, instead of fame, because success and fame, as we know, as she knows, can come and go, and big paychecks. doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be happy there.
So – she’s gorgeous, she’s daring, but also seems more shy than she has been at comparable events? Perhaps, like her speech addressing writers directly, she realized she was better off if she just focused on her people?
Or maybe she realized that this is the last professional obligation she will have in relation to I can destroy you, and already shut down all the noise and the conversation. Maybe she’ll shut up, to hear the story she’ll tell next, and it’ll be a long time – in which case I’m even happier that those yellow-green silk banners were how she finally agreed. a prize that should have many more to keep him company.
