We’ve heard before that Samsung may be looking to expand beyond foldable phones into a device with a drop-down screen. And now, thanks to a new concept video, we’ve got a good look at what the rumor is Galaxy scroll might look like.
The breathtaking Galaxy Scroll concept video by Dutch 3D designer Jermaine Smit in partnership with LetsGoDigital, shows the phone in action flipping the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 S stylus so that you can immediately buy your own device. If the Galaxy Scroll pictured in the video looked more realistic, we’d wonder if this was the real thing.
The concept video shows the shiny S Pen removed from its storage location on the phone and surrounding the phone before it hovers above the screen.
The S Pen may be one of the highlights of Smit’s video, but it’s not the only standout feature. The video, which claims to show a roll-up Galaxy Note, gives a glimpse of how the screen would develop as well as the triple array of rear cameras on the back of the device.
It’s not such a leap of logic that this new phone includes one of the signature features of the Galaxy Note. Rumors suggest that S Pen support could be added to one of the upcoming Galaxy S21 models next year, and that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 slated for later in the year could also feature a stylus – especially s ‘it replaces the Galaxy Note in the range of Samsung, as some believe.
The video is surfacing at a time when Samsung appears to be paying more attention to foldable devices. In addition to the Galaxy Scroll rumors that have recently surfaced, the leaks give more details about the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is expected to arrive in the second half of 2021.
With its stylus and larger screen, the upcoming Fold may well take the place of the Galaxy Note as Samsung’s productivity-focused phone.
While Samsung has not commented on its future phone plans, we have some idea when the company may roll out some of these new devices.
The Galaxy S21 could debut as early as January, with Samsung looking to boost sales of its next flagship with the potentially following Galaxy Z Fold 3 as the late-summer release traditionally reserved for the upcoming Galaxy Note.
It’s unclear how Samsung would adapt the Galaxy Scroll to these launches – or even if a launch is on the horizon.
For now, we’re left with this drool-worthy concept that at least gives us a better idea of what a scrolling Samsung phone will look like if it arrives soon.
