BLOUNTSVILLE, Alabama – Police arrested a substitute teacher in Alabama after the departure of his weapon in a freshman class.

No one was injured in the incident on Friday. The authorities, however, told the media that Henry Rex Weaver, 72, was in detention and facing charges.

Blount County Sheriff, Mark Moon, said students were in the classroom with Weaver at Blountsville Elementary School when a gun that was in his pocket was unloaded.

The directors were alerted and the man was arrested until the authorities arrived.

Moon is concerned that a substitute teacher has brought a firearm to school. He says that the minimum charge in the case is reckless endangerment, which is an offense under state law.

The records are not yet available to show if Weaver has a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
