A new behind-the-scenes featurette of The Suicide Squad surprises fans with a true-to-comic portrayal of the classic DC villain Calendar Man.

A new behind-the-scenes featurette in James Gunn’s upcoming film The suicide squad The film reveals the first look at Calendar Man.

The featurette confirms that Sean Gunn, brother of writer / director James Gunn, plays Julian Day, aka Calendar Man. Based on the brief footage clip, Gunn’s Calendar Man is exceptionally precise in the comics, widely seen through the precise placement of his head tattoos. Gunn has already been confirmed for The suicide squad as CGI John Munroe, also known as Weasel.

The role of the calendar man in The suicide squad is currently unknown, although fans believe the cast points to a more comedic tone for the character. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sean Gunn is known for his role as Kraglin Obfonteri, the second of the Yondu Ravager clan in the guardians of the galaxy cinema.

Calendar Man is a classic DC Universe villain created by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff and debuted in the 1958s Detective Comics # 259. The character is a criminal known to have committed crimes on important days of the year, usually popular holidays. He’s one of the central villains of the classic crime thriller Batman: Along Halloween, currently being released as a two-part animated film.

Calendar Man is also known to the general public for his appearance in the Batman: Arkham Games. Julain Day is to be discovered in Arkham City, where he responds to Batman with different voice lines depending on the date recorded on the console or PC.

The suicide squad begins airing on HBO Max on August 6. The film features a variety of characters fans will recognize from David Ayer Suicide Squad, including Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney). It also introduces many new characters, such as Bloodsport (Idris Elba), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), and Peacemaker (John Cena).
