Sultan Aliyev announces his retirement after the victory of UFC St. Petersburg

Sultan Aliyev is on a good note.

The 34-year-old Russian welterweight announced his retirement following a unanimous victory over Keita Nakamura at UFC St. Petersburg on Saturday. The fight marked the first fight of Aliev in 11 months.

"This fight was the last of my contract with the UFC, so it was very important for me to win," said Aliev in a UFC press release. "And it was a lot easier for me since I fought at home. Since this was the last fight of my contract, I would like to retire from MMA. I have a family and a job – I can not find time for everything. And also I begin to feel my age.

"I did all this not only for my fans, but to test myself and push my limits. I am grateful to the UFC for giving me this chance. "

Since his debut in April 2011, Aliev has made a 15-3 record with a 2-2 mark at the UFC. He also competed for Bellator and spent most of his career fighting in his native Russia.
