Sunday Sunday: review of the second week of the Milwaukee brewers

Let's see. If the Brewers lose only one game a week, they will have a record of about (check calculator) … 127-35. Yep. It will do the trick.

So THAT does not happen, but it's a rather encouraging start. Of course, the Cubs beat the Brewers throw for two days, but they only managed to win one, and Milwaukee came back to win a more reasonable facsimile of the match today. The three games resulted in a total score of 26 to 25 Cubs. The three wheels were marked by a single point. The crew did not overwhelm anyone. But they are bleaching them, and an 8-2 start beats the alternative. Just ask the Cubs.

HISTORY OF PITCHING TOP: I bet you are waiting for someone else! But as much as I like the performance of another pitcher, Freddy Peralta's Wednesday outing was perhaps the most encouraging performance of the week. Fastball Freddy struggled to find the trim at his first start and lasted only three innings while allowing nine runners to lose a week against the Cardinals. In the last game of the series in Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon, Peralta worked eight innings of two hits without a ball, and drew eleven players from the Reds' revamped formation. The Brewers had their worst offensive game of the season but won 1-0, which gives hope for the Three Youngsters (plus one) in the rotation.

Honorable Mention: Oh yeah. Josh Hader is a good relief pitcher. He saved half of Menomomee Nine's wins this week and kept his best for last. Craig Counsell did not have to use it in the first two games of the series, giving Hader three days off. What are you doing then? Throw him last 2 ²/₃ and watch him retire eight times in a row to win the 4-2 win. For the week, Josh had 3 stops, worked 4 ²/₃ sleeves while allowing a shot, a walk and fanning (only) five. But the slider arrives, and (as we saw last season), the games against the Cubs are important. So, not having Josh for at least the first two games of the series is a reasonable price to pay to take 2 of 3 from the entrance of the Chicago senior circuit.

Haderade is alive and well.

HISTORY HITTING HISTORY: Remember when we wondered if Orlando Arcia could even last the first month as a short stop for the Brewers? Yes, we can be idiots. Lando reduced his .368 / .478 / .684 average for a total OPS of 1,162, which earned him two huge home defeats, scoring 5 times and leading to five. If the young player can continue his approach on the right field and his great defense, this type of production in eight places makes this training even more profound. Oh, and the two Arcia circuits averaging 355 '; it is an economical use of distance.

Honorable Mention: Another player with whom Milwaukee fans were a little impatient was the new receiver Yasmani Grandal. The signatory of the free agent started slowly but broke through his first circuit this week, added a doubled and reduced by 0.533 / 0.562 / 0.867, OPS 1.420. Yaz scored five times but his only ribbie was the circuit. It was good to see the dinger arrive as a right-hander; we know that the left side is its strong side. But there's no guarantee that JJ will be at last year's level (certainly a stratospheric height), and I'm not confident in the rest of the feather outside Hader. I find it hard to believe that the Brewers' brain trust would think differently (and I'm not surprised they never express that), but let's hope they keep their eyes and ears open.

It does not have to be Craig Kimbrel (but jeesh, it's just money … I wonder how much we could collect with a gofundme?), But Will Smith has three stops for the giants who go from nowhere. For example.

COMMENT OF THE WEEK: It's good that Grandal presents himself, but I still see a huge advantage in Manny Pina's defense. An astute commentator was happy to see Pineapple behind the dish for Peralta on Wednesday:

Dude, this guy has good observations. Note how much staff has improved today too?

The crew went to the west coast and we saw Mike Trout and Christian Yelich IN SAME GAMES! These will take place tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. Faithful to the tradition of not playing last Thursday, Milwaukee goes to Dodger Stadium to play games with the incredible Los Angeles offense. Have a good week, guys!
