Super Bowl LV will be a generational showdown between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes

Tampa, Florida – Super Bowl LV is settled: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s a home game for the Buccaneers – like their legendary quarterback Tom Brady needs an edge.

Six-time Super Bowl champion Brady has now done the unthinkable by leading another team to the Super Bowl in his first year with the franchise.

Superstar Patrick Mahomes, who has established himself as the face and future of the NFL, stands in his way. This dynamic climax machine leads the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl. It’s no easy task – the last quarterback to win two Super Bowls was Brady in 2004 and 2005.

Brady, who is old enough to be Mahomes’ father, won his first Super Bowl when Mahomes was in kindergarten. It’s a generational confrontation. The old guard takes the new guard. History vs future. The 43-year-old legend versus the 25-year-old.

The February 7 game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa will be Brady’s 10th Super Bowl appearance. He already has more Super Bowl wins than any player in league history. Another win would give him more wins than any other franchise.

The Buccaneers beat the No. 1 seeded Green Bay Packers Sunday 31-26 to win the NFC and a Super Bowl berth. The Buccaneers will be the first team in Super Bowl history to compete for the championship in their stadium.

“The belief he gave to this organization that it could be done,” said head coach Bruce Arians when asked what Brady has brought to the team. “It only took one man.”

Brady was with the New England Patriots for 20 years before moving to Tampa.

Mahomes said on Sunday that playing Brady would be “a great experience.”

“To go out there and have a chance to repeat and be able to do it against the best, I mean it’s something special and I’m excited for this opportunity,” he said after the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills, 38-24.

Mahomes will be the first quarterback to start multiple Super Bowls at 25 or under. Even Brady doesn’t have the right to brag.

November 29 was the last time the two quarterbacks faced each other. Mahomes and the Chiefs came out on 27-24.
