The logo for Super Bowl LVI to be held in Los Angeles in February 2022 was released today, originally posted on the Los Angeles Super Bowl host committee’s website, and then shared by the Los Angeles Rams on social media .
The logo prominently displays the Lombardi Trophy and incorporates palm trees and colors that reflect the Southern California sunset within the Roman numerals, bringing a local flavor to a model otherwise in use since Super Bowl XLV in 2011 and was tweaked slightly for Super Bowl 50 in 2016 and beyond.

As you can see, it’s definitely a better design, which will hopefully lead to a few more regional touches on future logos. For example, Super Bowl LVII, to be held in Arizona in 2023, could feature images of cacti in Roman numerals, or even the Arizona state flag.
Compare that to what the previous two models would have given us, which would have either been the stadium behind the trophy or, as was the case last year, just a slightly recolored bar at the bottom.

Super Bowl LVI will be held on February 6, 2022 at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., Home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. It will be the first in the greater Los Angeles area since 1993, when Super Bowl XXVII was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
The Super Bowl was held seven times at the Rose Bowl or the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, including the first Super Bowl – then known as the AFL-NFL World Championship Game – in 1967.
Interestingly, Los Angeles initially hosted Super Bowl LV, but construction delays at SoFi Stadium forced the NFL to give the game to Tampa. This ultimately saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers become the first team in league history to play the Super Bowl on their own turf, while Los Angeles received Super Bowl LVI.
The committee also unveiled its own logo for the game, consisting of lines evoking the unique outline of SoFi Stadium and the motto “Champions Shine Here”. It was accompanied by a video featuring rap icon Snoop Dogg.
