Pop stars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez have been confirmed as the half-time Super Bowl show half-time.

The concert is one of the largest in the world – over 98 million people watched the show this year.

In a statement, the NFL announced that the duo would perform on February 2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Their broadcast will be the first to be produced by Roc Nation, an entertainment company founded by rapper and businessman Shawn "Jay Z" Carter.

Both artists have published songs at the top of the charts in English and Spanish since the 1990s.

They shared the latest ad on social media.

Colombian singer Shakira is one of the best selling Latin American music stars in the world and has won three Grammy Awards. In 2001, she won international acclaim with her Whenever single, Wherever.

Lopez, an actress and singer, is known for such hits as "Love Don & # 39; t Cost A Thing" and stars in the movie Hustlers, which is predicted for an Oscar.

She said in a statement that she "was eager to show what we girls can do on the biggest stage in the world."

Meanwhile, Shakira has called this opportunity a "true American dream".

The concert comes as the NFL seeks to rebuild its image after a public reaction following the treatment of Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.

Mr. Kaepernick began to kneel during the rendition of the US national anthem before the match, in protest of racial injustice.

The event has developed into a movement followed by many other players.

He drew the attention of US President Trump, who suggested that kneeling players be fired. Last year, the NFL announced that it would fine the teams of all kneeling players. Mr. Kaepernick terminated his contract in March 2017 and has not played since.

As a result of the controversy, several renowned artists – among them Rihanna, P! Nk and Cardi B – reportedly refused offers to perform at the show at half time last year.

The concert was finally presented by pop group Maroon 5 and rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi.

To counter the critics, Maroon 5's is associated with the NFL and their Interscope label to donate $ 500,000 (£ 382,000) to the Big Brother Big Sister charity.

Their move echoes that of Travis Scott, who has agreed to perform as long as the NFL contributes a joint $ 500,000 donation to the Dream Corps social justice organization.

The most-watched Super Bowl show of all time was the spectacular shark-infested Katy Perry show in 2015, which drew 120.7 million viewers.
