Following Super Mario Maker will have a story mode, unlike its predecessor, said today Nintendo in a Nintendo Direct dedicated to the game. In story mode, you can rebuild the destroyed castle of Princess Peach by playing on courses to win coins for the reconstruction effort. Plus, a lot, a lot more.
During a 15-minute video for Super Mario Maker 2, which will be released June 28 for Switch, Nintendo has detailed a ton of new features that will be added to the Mario level builder, including clear conditions ("win by collecting 50 coins!") and cooperative construction with a second player. Also: tracks, on-off switches, rocking seesaws, angry suns and even mechanics who have never been in a difficult situation. Mario play before, like swaying claws and a dry bone shell that lets you slide into the lava and hide yourself like a bunch of bones. (And: a CAR.) You can add automatic scrolling to your levels, swap themes, insert moving water or lava, and much more.
In addition, Nintendo today announced the Super Mario 3D World The mode, which is two-dimensional but allows features that the levels of other games will not support, such as the teleportation of glass pipes and cat suits. There is also a night mode and a four-player multiplayer mode that you can play both in competition and in cooperation.
