Nintendo is ending support for certain online features in Super Mario Creator, the original Wii U game, next year. Players will no longer be able to download courses in Super Mario Maker as of March 31, 2021, Nintendo said in a support notice on its website.

Great Mario Maker will be removed from Nintendo eShop on January 12, 2021, as per the change. Nintendo said that it will still be possible to play courses that were downloaded before the course download feature was discontinued, and owners will be able to download the game again after it is removed from the eShop.

Changes to the Wii U game will not affect Super Mario Maker 2 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo said. It will not affect either Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, which did not support player-created course downloads.

Nintendo is also closing the Super Mario Creator Bookmark website launched in December 2015. The closure of Super Mario markerDownloading and bookmarking the website means that Course World in the game will also remove the ability for players to update the rankings for liked courses and search for marked courses.

Super Mario Creator was originally released in September 2015 for Wii U. Nintendo released the sequel for Nintendo Switch in June 2019.
