Universal Studios Japan has announced an opening date for its Super Nintendo World – and you won’t have to fall down the drain to enter. Not yet, in any case.

The specialized video game-themed park will open on February 4, 2021 in Osaka.

The world’s first Super Nintendo World will consist of a “highly themed and immersive terrain featuring legendary Nintendo worlds, characters and adventures where guests can play their favorite Nintendo games,” according to a press release shared with Fox News.

Naturally, there will be Mario Kart and Yoshi themed rides and attractions, as well as themed restaurants, shops and experiences throughout the park.

To enhance the feel of the game, visitors will have Power-Up bands to wear that will allow them to collect virtual coins and score points. It is not known if Mario Bros. will help you through these virtual reality games.

The park’s flagship experiences will be an interactive Mario Kart roller coaster inside Bowser’s Castle, where guests will wear augmented reality headsets and ride the iconic Mario Kart courses, according to the press release.

“At the heart of the castle is the world’s first-ever Mario Kart theme park ride based on the Mario Kart game series, which has sold over 150 million units. Universal Creative has teamed up with Nintendo to bring a true racing adventure to Universal Studios Japan with Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge! Guests will put on their helmets which will take them through the Mario Kart universe for an endless experience and excitement, ”said Thomas Geraghty, Senior Director, Innovation and Global Executive Producer of Mario Kart.

OPENING OF THE DUBAI THEME PARK IN 2021

The grand opening will coincide with Universal Studios Japan’s 20th anniversary and kick off the park’s one-year celebration.

The theme park has shared that it will operate at a limited capacity upon opening with strict health measures in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
