Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Character Hope Deconfirmed

Another Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character hope has been unconfirmed. Earlier this week, when a long-rumored and much-requested DLC character was apparently unconfirmed, he surprised Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite users. A few days later, another character was more or less unconfirmed, although this one probably won’t come as much of a surprise given how new the character is.

Next to Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7 remake, DOOM Eternal, Animal Crossing: New horizons, and some other games, Underworld was on many GOTY 2020 lists, and rightly so. Much of the game’s appeal lies in its characters and story. And at the center of the latter is Zagreus, the game’s protagonist. That said, while it’s easy enough to envision a future where Zagreus is in a four-man battle for his life against Kirby, Falco, and Steve, it doesn’t seem not that this happens in time to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

When asked if he’d be ready to see Zagreus added, writer and designer Greg Kasavin was, unsurprisingly, up for the crossover. That said, in the same breath, he still casts doubt on what’s going on, at least not so soon.

“On a personal level I think it would be amazing,” Kasavin said. “To break does such a good job of adapting the characters so faithfully, sometimes even more faithfully from the games these characters come from. I’m a huge fan of NEO-GEO fighting games and they brought Terry Bogard … so yeah I think they would do an amazing job but it’s one of those things because I’m sure they have a very long list! “

As you can see, Kasavin doesn’t quite confirm that we won’t see the Underworld the character comes to Great Smash Bros. Ultimate, but it strongly involves it. And as mentioned, that makes sense considering that Underworld just released last year. Additionally, while the game was award winning and popular, the character itself is far from iconic or on par with others waiting to be added.
