"Super Smash Bros. Ultimate "was the last mission of Iwata, president of Nintendo

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate more than lives his name. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won several awards this week at the Tokyo Game Show. And during his thank you speech, the mastermind of the franchise, Masahiro Sakurai, said that the game was the last task given to him by Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata, who died in 2015.

Before their meteoric rise through Nintendo, Sakurai and Iwata were working together at the HAL lab. And even after Sakurai became a free agent, Iwata could count on him to Smash Bros. games for new Nintendo systems. Iwata even announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl on stage at the E3 2005 before officially asking Sakurai to take the reins. Iwata's story as a game developer has helped him to collaborate with other studios, even as president.
