Six years after making its appearance on our small screens, Super girl finished filming their final episode yesterday and now the countdown to the series finale begins.
The series is currently on a summer hiatus, but is set to return with a brand new episode on August 24, following its sister series. Superman and Lois concludes its first season the week before. It will now air at 9:00 p.m. EST, following a brand new episode of Star girl.
To commemorate the show’s final day of filming, series star Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers / Supergirl) shared a photo of herself with her original teammates Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers / Sentinel) and David Harewood (J’onn J’onzz / Martian Manhunter), with a message saying “Thank you for these amazing 6 years – the cast that became family, everyone who worked on the show, all of you who watched us week after week ♥ ️ ♥ ️ ♥ ️ this is a summary of Supergirl.“
There are still plenty of Girl of Steel adventures to experience this year as thirteen episodes have yet to air on The CW, and the series finale is tentatively scheduled for November 9.
Check out a trailer for the show’s return on August 24 below, and keep scrolling through touching farewell messages from Benoist and his co-stars!
