Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Dr Anthony Fauci also said that there was nothing wrong with the death toll: “The dead are real deaths. All you have to do is go out into the trenches. Go to the hospitals and see what the health care workers are facing. They are going through very stressful situations in many parts of the country. Hospital beds are stretched, people are running out of beds, the qualified staff is exhausted.

Trump tweeted Sunday: “The number of cases and deaths of the Chinese virus is far inflated in the United States due to @ CDCgov’s ridiculous method of determining against other countries, many of which are reporting, on purpose, very inaccurately and little. “If in doubt, call it Covid. Fake News! ”

“The good news,” he told Tapper, “is that we are seeing it increasing rapidly thanks to our state partners. In the last 72 hours, we have seen 1.5 million first reported gunshots. If you extrapolate that and many extrapolate numbers, it’s 500,000 a day. I want everyone to know that over the next week or two we should be mindful and make sure we continue to see this rise and hopefully we will. “
