UPDATE 1:30 p.m. PT – Friday December 18, 2020
The surgeon general recently addressed the potential skepticism or fears surrounding coronavirus vaccines.
Jerome Adams joined the vice president and second lady on Friday in getting the vaccine publicly to show Americans the treatment can be trusted.

In a brief speech, Adams said the vaccines were a gift from above. He added that he was dedicated to fighting mistrust and misinformation to ensure all Americans can be treated.
Adams sympathized with those who may be hesitant to get vaccinated as soon as they are available. He noted that it was okay to be skeptical.
