Suspect arrested for brutal assault on transgender woman, Dallas police say

Texas authorities said Sunday that the man accused of beating a transgender woman during a daytime attack captured on a cell phone was arrested.

Edward Thomas, 29, was caught at 9:30 pm. Sunday on "his role in the aggravated assault," reported the Dallas Morning News, citing the police.

Authorities said the woman had reported the assault while she was hospitalized Friday night. She told police that the attack had occurred earlier Friday after being involved in a small traffic accident near an apartment complex in South Dallas, according to the statement. the police released Saturday.
