(CNN) – The man suspected of killing his mother, father, uncle and four other people in rural Tennessee last month was arrested and charged after being released from prison. hospital, announced investigators.
Michael Cummins has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder, a criminal homicide leader and a first-degree murder attempt leader, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement. Press release.

Cummins, who has a long criminal record, was shot dead by a sheriff's deputy while he was arrested during the investigation. He had been hospitalized until Friday.
Six of the bodies, including relatives of Cummins, were found along a rural road between Westmoreland and Fairfield, small towns about 50 km northeast of Nashville. A seventh body was found in a house less than one kilometer away, police said.
The house where six of the victims were found dead was one of the most complex and gruesome crime scenes they have ever seen, Tennessee investigators told reporters a few days after the victims were found.
"This is one of the most horrible cases I have had to face and deal with," said Attorney General Ray Whitley, who has been in post since 1980.
The victims had probably been dead for more than a day when they were discovered, Rausch said.
A family member called the police on April 27 after finding four of the bodies, and the BIT quickly announced that the investigators had found a fifth in a nearby house. The next day, the office announced that he had found two other bodies in the first house.
The investigators refused to say how the victims had been killed, citing the ongoing investigation.
According to a TBI background check, Cummins' criminal background includes a plea of guilty for violation of a protection order in 2013, the conclusion of a plea agreement for attempted assault and a violation from probation in 2013, plea of guilty to theft and escape from an arrest assault and violation of probation in 2017, and convictions in 2018 for aggravated assault and arson charges.
He was recently released from prison on January 19, Whitley said in April. Before his last arrest, Cummins was to remain on probation until 2027, the Tennessee Correction Department announced.
