MCALLEN – A suspect accused of shooting at a DPS soldier remains on the run from the authorities.
According to the DPS, a soldier approached an accident scene, where a driver fled on foot around 8:45 Saturday night.
The soldier found the alleged driver near block 1500 on South Maltese Street in Edinburg.
After contacting the alleged driver, the soldier was shot.
He was taken to the hospital and is in surgery.
The authorities believe that the suspect remains in the vicinity of North 10th Street and Freddy Gonzalez.
DPS is working with other local law enforcement agencies to locate the suspect.
