The woman suspected of killing a New York City cop in a suspected drunken accident early Tuesday said “I’m sorry” as she was taken from a police station handcuffed in a police car.
Jessica Beauvais, 32, faces a range of charges including two counts of manslaughter, reckless endangerment, leaving crash resulting in death and drunk driving in connection with death Anastasio Tsakos, a 14-year veteran who was assigned to Highway 3, the NYPD told Fox News.
She was driving with a suspended driver’s license at the time of the crash, police said. In total, her license has been suspended 14 times and she has been cited for multiple traffic violations, authorities said.

During the march to the police car in front of a group of journalists, Beauvais apologized for the officer’s death as she was being driven out of the 107th arrondissement in Queens.
“I’m sorry I hit him and he’s dead,” she sobbed. “I didn’t mean to. I’m sorry!”
Tsakos was the father of a 6-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son, police said.
When asked what she wanted to say to her family, an emotional Beauvais said: “I didn’t mean to, I’m sorry.” Journalists then asked her where she was from before the accident.
“I was coming from the studio” as the doors of the police vehicle closed. “I’m doing a podcast.”
Tsakos was diverting traffic in a fatal crash on a Queens highway just before 2 a.m. when a vehicle turned and was struck “head-on” by a 2013 Volkswagen, police said.
The driver fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after. The officer was taken to the hospital where he died. Beauvais’s blood alcohol level was 0.159%, well above the legal limit of 0.08%, police said.

In a video posted to Facebook on Monday, Beauvais, posting as Phoenix Michel, was heard playing NWA’s “F — tha Police” before speaking about the sentencing of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin, reported the New York Daily News.
“Why do you need a gun to do your job,” she asks. “If you were scared for your life, go be a secretary at Walmart. Do us all the favor. Go and open a daycare. But stop hitting us with the (insulting) excuse that you feel threatened about something. ”
