HOUSTON – Police said a gunman, suspected man and woman died after a shootout at a northwest Houston motel on Sunday.

Officers said the shooting took place at the Palace Inn located at 3421 Antoine around 11:05 p.m. Officers said two other people were shot dead in the incident.

Police said they received a call from someone they believe to be the suspect who said he had guns and was going to hurt or shoot someone.

“That’s what followed… He murdered two people on the second floor balcony. It does not appear to be domestic violence or that he knew the victims. The suspect shot them before the police arrived at the scene, ”said Matt Slinkard of the Houston Police Department after officers watched the surveillance video.

When officers arrived, police said the suspect had started shooting their patrol cars from the second floor balcony. Three policemen fired back and at one point the police said the suspect had fallen. Police said when officers went to the second floor, they found the two victims.

Investigators said two other people in the parking lot were injured when the suspect started shooting over the balcony.

Police say the suspect is a 35-year-old man. Officers are uncertain whether the suspect was killed in a shootout with police or whether he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
