With 6.2 seconds to go, Jared Harper, of Auburn No. 22, missed a major free throw that could have made him lose any chance of a return to Florida. Instead, there was plenty of time for the Gators to do something to try to tie the match, only 65-62.
Harper's attack was recovered by Keyontae Johnson of Florida, who handed the ball to Andrew Nembhard around the half-court. The Tigers tried to impregnate Nembhard into believing he would be sent to the starting line and, at worst, would only score two points. But the guard of the Gators saw the fault coming and triggered a shooting movement. A clear contact was established on Nembhard and for a brief second it seemed like he was going to line up with a chance to equalize. Instead, the referees swallowed their whistles and let out a pretty glaring call.

At the very least, it's hard to understand why nothing was called in this situation. Bruce Pearl was splitting veins in his neck trying to tell his players to wrap those who had the ball and they were forced. Even if the referees did not hear Pear's howls, they should at least have the awareness of staying in the game to recognize that this could be a great time to commit a fault and prepare accordingly. Instead, they seemed to watch the play unfold like the rest of us, gaping at someone who was trying to play an incredibly serious ring, beating three times. was shot a few seconds after his colleague.
Terrible officiating in important matches is a sign that Mars has really started.
