Expressen has long been talking about the introduction of an online payment model. As early as 2013, the editor of the newspaper Thomas Mattsson published and confirmed that a payment model would be put in place later in the year. But such has never happened.
Now the model will be back in the pipeline. Thomas Mattsson himself said at a seminar in Almedalen
Klas Granström confirms the plans. In an e-mail to the summary, he likes the details, but writes:
– The behavior of paying for quality content is established by Swedish consumers and for an actor as important as Expressen, there is clearly a potential. Both in the form of an even stronger content offering and a potential revenue stream.
– We have long understood that Express believed in paid content, and today we have different contexts where readers and viewers pay our journalism. We are currently studying the best way to proceed, in terms of content and price, to move to the next step.
Paying on a larger scale is a matter of time, says Klas Granström. want to focus on becoming the largest source of digital information in the Nordic region and therefore the main advertising environment for customers wanting to reach the most important ranges and the most effective conversions.
