For a long time Arne Ljungqvist worked hard to keep international sport safe from doping. For this he will be shown great respect. But, as a summer evaluator, he is, if I am quite frank, struggling with wood.
There is no way to question Arne Ljungqvist's commitment to fighting doping. Ljungqvist has dedicated his life to this. And it is evident in his summer speech that it will be a long and detailed account of what happened in the cheating industry and his own role in seemingly hopeless work sometimes. It is not unusual that one step forward and three back.
Just before Arne Ljungqvist withdrew, with his own words, he became "extorted under OS Sochi" by "the systematic and sanctioned doping of Russians". Heavy of course. But how did he feel Arne? Really? Auditors are not close to knowing.
