Björn Gustafsson talks about success and failure

Björn Gustafsson was 22 when he received a major breakthrough in the TV program in TV4 in 2008. The success is immediate, there will be hysteria around the young comedian Kungälv.

Everyone moves and draws the new star. He participates in Melodifestivalen, Schlager-EM and all the big crowds. He is named "the funniest man in Sweden".

Breaking Together

Björn is everywhere. In TV shows, in stand-up clubs. The Swedish people love him. He felt hunted by all the media surveillance.

But success has a back. Everything is going so fast. He drops tracks, collapses and now tells in a long interview in King Magazine that he has "panicked" and "changed his personality".

But says that today, ten years later, he feels better than in the long run – and that he is happy to have lived the past ten years sometimes "chaotic"

He then told her, after the big breakthrough, lost touch with reality and even had suicidal thoughts.

"Some form of panic attack"

– Yes. I think that everyone can have suicidal thoughts in difficult times, but this has reached a limit where I dared to even think about it anymore. It was just too close. It was really uncomfortable, says Bjorn Gustafsson, 32, to King Rasmus Blom's journalist.

– Much hanged and his career was hysterical. I was getting requests for movies and TV all the time, I did not know what to choose and it was hard to say no. Suddenly, I fell to the ground. Björn Gustafsson says that he was supported by fellow artists like Henrik Dorsin, that he was at Peter Apelgren and Anna Mannheimer's in Gothenburg and that "they were incredibly kind."

But the obsessions did not want to let go. He became paralyzed. In the end, his parents took him to the psychic remedy.

Today, Björn can see great similarities between him and superstar Tim "Avicii" Bergling who died this spring. Also in Avicii, the pressure was hard, despite the fact that he felt bad, he was forced to appear.

Björn Gustafsson saw a documentary on Avicii and said in the interview that "it was like seeing each other."

– There was a lot of mental stress. What in the media would be described as burnout, did not depend on the fact that I was working too much, but rather that everyone was asking me all the time, he told King Magazine.

Do you feel bad? Here is some help.

Always take thoughts or suicidal plans seriously. Stay calm, but act.

Speak and dare to listen. Express your concern and ask questions. Give concrete examples of why you think there is a risk of suicide. Never show empathy and judgment. But insist that everyone has a responsibility for their actions.

A suicidal person needs to meet someone from psychiatry at a time. Call 112 or go to an emergency room. If possible – do not leave the person alone.

Suicide is often impulsive. Suicidal people are often ambivalent in the last. It is possible to influence them. Emphasize that you can get help and things get better.
