This year, 210 years have passed since the Battle of Oravais, become crucial for the future of Finland. It will be noted from August 2 to 5 with various events
It is the historical association of Oravai that celebrates the 210th anniversary and keeps the festivities in mind.
President Göran Backman tells us that it is a rather international trait of the event. Historical groups from Sweden, Norway, Latvia and Russia visit Oravais to participate in the celebration.
– Thursday, we will present Finland 100 years.
On Fridays, there will be workshops and conferences and on Saturday, the big public event will take place

On the Battlefield in Oravais There is a Museum with a fur farm, a village of soldiers and a commemorative stone. In front of the pine forest, there will be a tent camp with ten tenths of life on the ground.
The public can visit the area on Saturday 12-15.
Guided tours are organized and the various tradition groups have planned their own programs for the public.

– It's our great passion to live history. The event suits the whole family, at least to the grandmother and grandfather.
Prepared for the general public
A short film about the Battle of Oravais has also been produced and will be presented to the public on Saturday

– I have no idea but we are prepared for many people. For the 200th anniversary, there were between 7,000 and 8,000 visitors, says Backman.
– After the 200th anniversary, many have asked when to do it again, so we hope people will take the opportunity and come to the battlefield on Saturday.
