A French court sued the German company TÜV, in charge of checking the quality of the implants. TÜV previously approved implants called PIP (Poly Implant Prosthesis), which contain a type of cheap silicone gel that has often deviated from CE marking.

The controlling company will now pay 4,600 euros, just over 47,000 Swedish crowns, to each of the 400 or so Swedish women injured by the implants.

Women should also be compensated for the costs of taking the implants. Previously, TÜV had been ordered to pay about 60 million euros as a deposit to compensate 20,000 other women in the world who underwent the operation.
