Park Geun-Hye, Vice President of South Korea, is sentenced to eight years in prison for illegally receiving money from the country's intelligence service, a Seoul court said. She was also found guilty of illegally participating in the election of deputies from her own party in 2016.
Park was sentenced to a 24-year prison term for, among others, abuse of power, mutilation and unlawful coercion. The former president considers himself innocent of crimes and refused to appear in court when the new verdict fell.
