Asia Bibi can get asylum in Italy

The Italian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that discussions were underway with several other countries to help Bibi and her family. "We are ready to act as soon as the Italian government will make a decision," said the Foreign Ministry according to AP, a interpreted statement that Italy would consider granting asylum to Asia Bibi and his family.

"Totally unimaginable"

The man from Asia Bibi asked for asylum in the Netherlands, but also appealed for help from several other countries to the whole family. The United States, Great Britain, Canada and Italy have been solicited. Italy is the country that responded first.

"I suspect that women and children whose lives are in danger will be offered a secure future in Italy or in any other Western country," Italian Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said, according to Reuters. He stated that it was totally unthinkable that a human being could be imprisoned and threatened with death in 2018 because of an alleged blasphemy and promised to help the Pakistani murderer.

"I will do everything I can to guarantee it," he said.

Political requirements

In Canada and Germany, politicians demanded that their respective countries help Asia Bibi leave Pakistan and offer her asylum.

The Catholic Bibi Asia, now 47 years old and a mother of five, was sentenced to death in 2010 for prosecuting the Prophet Muhammad and Islam. The case has attracted great international attention and provoked mass protests around the world when Bibi became the first person to be so managed according to one of the strictest blame laws in the world.

Several deaths

The Supreme Court of Pakistan overturned the death sentence passed last week on the grounds of lack of evidence and decided that Bibi should be released. The lawyer of Asia Bibi and the three judges of the Supreme Court have been threatened with death, while Islamic fundamentalists continue to demand the hanging of Asia Bibi.
