An explosion occurred in front of the US Embassy in Beijing, reports the AP news agency.

A 26 year old man should have the detonating object to be made at home.

Smoke surrounds the area around the United States Embassy in Beijing after the outbreak of an explosion. A 26-year-old man is believed to have caused the explosion through a small homemade object. According to local police and an embassy spokesman, he should only be injured when he is attacked, AP writes.

Witnesses state that it was "a big explosion" and that large clouds of smoke and ruptures are visible on the pictures of the site.

The aggressor only has to hurt his hand and his condition does not put life in danger. He is now hospitalized.

The 26-year-old is from Tongliao, Central Mongolia. Beijing police posted a photo of the man on his website.
