Saccal tells WPTV that Sayoc was popular with all his colleagues. This perception differs from the information that emerged from one of his previous workplaces, where he was working as a pizza shop until January of this year. There, his colleagues had been annoyed by his racist remarks.

Sayoc has lived in different ways over the years, including stripping. On his Linkedin, he writes that he worked as an agent and choreographer for male strippers and burleskshowers, writes CNN.

Studied at the university

As a young student, Sayoc joined the University of North Carolina between 1983 and 1984, but he graduated without passing the exam. A few years earlier, he had studied at the university, but had not graduated.

The arrested man's cousin, Lenny Altieri, said that Sayoc was well educated and had attended good schools.

"Being smart and having common sense is not the same thing," he said.

Did not have contact with his family

In 2012, Sayoc went bankrupt personally, and then lived with his mother. But at the time of arrest, Sayoc had not contacted his mother for at least three years, according to family lawyer Ronald S Lowy.

According to Lowy, Sayoc's mother and sister would have tried to persuade him to ask for help in solving his "real problems".

At the time of his arrest, Sayoc had to live in his white coat after being chased from their parents' home.
