Since 2010, Daniel Birnbaum has worked as superintendent at the Modern Museum in Stockholm. According to a press release, he is currently leading the new Acute Art in London, described as "a laboratory exploring the technology-art dialogue by producing new digital artworks".

– I've been working on Classical institutions all my life, happy decades at a time, and what I thought was the funniest thing in life was always working closely with the artists . Of course, many other jobs add to the big, small but interesting places like the Venice Biennale and the Modern Museum. I hope it will be a step back to working closely with the art and discovering new artists, which I expected to do, says Daniel Birnbaum at DN. time at the Modern Museum?

– The mix of generations and attitudes is something that I hope I can take with me. What is special about Modern, is that it's a mix of established artists and new artists, and that you can be in dialogue with the two.

Your new Acute Art service seems vaguer than yours. What attracted?

– They've offered me this job because I'm going to work with artists, not because I'm great at digital technology, because I'm not really. But if there is something that is clear with the Modern Museum, it is the accident of the machine that has existed there. The dream of finding new productive encounters of art and technology has long existed, but becomes nostalgic when talking about the sixties. Now, it is a visually stunning technology, with virtual reality, artificial intelligence that shaves on us, and I will try to find out more.

Daniel Birnbaum says that he was offered a host of other services, but most of it looked a lot like his present …

– I had no desire to make the same thing in another city. I've had a lot of different jobs, and finally you know it's getting a little exhausted for you. I think it's an exciting challenge to work with the future instead of working with the past.

Flechtheim's relatives have asked Moderna to leave the building since 2016, but the museum feels the property is still unclear.

Daniel Birnbaum says, however, that conflict has nothing to do with the end of modernism.

– My decision was communicated to the Ministry of Culture before it was known, and it became a reality. It is something we are still working on, and I am out of the year and I hope we will solve the situation.
