Several fires began Monday at various locations in the Attica region of Greece. Something that prompted the Greek government to suspect that the fires, which took the lives of 83 people, were landed.

At a press conference on Thursday, the Minister of Civil Defense, Nikos Toskas, announced that there were obvious signs of fires.

– We have serious indications and obvious signs that they have landed, he said.

He also stated that the testimony to the police supports the suspicions, but did not give more details than that. He points out that "climatic conditions" have contributed to the rapid spread of fires.

At least 83 people were found dead after the fires, 187 people were injured and a dozen are still missing. The fires are described as the most deadly for decades in Greece and the death rate could increase further.

About 300 firefighters and volunteer searches disappeared Thursday, writes Reuters.
