Hi 90's – FZ Test Playstation Classic!

[ad_1]

Sony wants to ride the retro wave launched by Nintendo with the NES Classic Mini. The result is a retractable version of the first ever Gray Playstation console, featuring original controls and 20 games. In the same way, the console connects other retro capabilities to the TV via HDMI and is powered by a conventional micro USB cable.

"The gaming experience is similar to that of the mid-90s"

The gaming experience is similar to that of the mid-90s, but the 20 pre-installed titles have received very happy improvements. The most important is without a doubt that the charging times are only a fraction of what they were on the console of origin. To load levels from CDs, some games might try to tolerate the burst limit, but it is now a memory only.

The experience is further enhanced by allowing you to create sub-recovery for each game so you can continue your gaming session without having to load game files. Yes, it works the same way as in the system. Nintendo home, but with PS Classic, you can only create one restore point, not four. If we continue to compare, Sony's software interface is slightly less polite and coarser. It may be a conscious strategy, but it does not seem that simple.

The luck on the bottom left is just there for the view.

Playstation Classic seems to run games more or less in unchanged form, so you must "change disc" in games with more than one title claimed, for example Final Fantasy VII. To do this, press the Open button and select the desired disc via the TV icons. There is a simple system for managing memory cards and spools, as well as basic settings and a guide section containing resources for the different titles.

Two controls are included, and they are from the original model, which obviously excludes titles that require analog levers from the Dualshock controller. It also means that the management is just as proud as in the 90s. The level of "difficult" depends on the game being played. Some titles, like resident Evil and Final Fantasy VII, based on commands angular enough to start and therefore always natural to play.

Other games, on the other hand, exhibit less meritorious aging, both in terms of physical control and functioning. An example is Flash jumping which was a welcome addition to the genre of the 3D platform during a period prior to the backup of the Playstation by Bandicoot Crash. It must have been impressive in his day, but the direction and the presentation are very difficult now. Bandicoot Crash had been a much better choice in the PS Classics game library.

One of the most incomprehensible choices is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six – An iconic PC title that for some reason is considered a classic Playstation. In addition to being a strange choice in this collection, it's also an example of how game developers really did not learn to understand how first-person shooters should work on console. After a while, I start taking control of the control program and I can start to enjoy the game more, but it's a strange choice in setup.

Cord! Like the good old times.

Ridge Racer in action. Unfortunately, we did not get photo games or screen capture.

Other games are as good as at first, but limited by the ergonomics of the handheld. classic fight Arena Toshinden Battle and Tekken 3 is still as tight as 20 years ago, especially the latter. But the gamepad makes them quickly uncomfortable. 3D fighters act like a nostalgia, but not if the dentist has a say in the team.

"I am pleasantly surprised at how much Ridge Racer Type 4 is fun"

If these titles are reminiscent of bad weather, there are some who do the opposite. I am pleasantly surprised by the pleasure Ridge Racer Type 4 Still, even though it is very rudimentary with the standard of today. You can still drive as if you've never seen a brake pedal and continue to behave well. The control is strict, the update of the image is uniform and the value of archival entertainment at the top.

Some titles are excellent, but we have already been able to buy and play on other platforms, not just Sonys. To play Final Fantasy VII is always a pleasure, but I'm already doing it on four home consoles. Other games like Revelations: Persona is a fantastic fantastic addition, as I guess many like me may have missed in the beginning. Here too, Sony seems to have more or less raised the original version because the same error of translation still exists.

Revelations: Persona is one of the few games in the ensemble that surprises and feels really necessary in the collection. Rainbow six and Grand Theft Auto is in no way a classic Playstation, and many other titles can be played with better performance on Sony's (re) modern machines. In some cases, the choice of games in the series is also strange.

"Rainbow Six and Grand Theft Auto are by no means a Playstation classic"

For example, you chose the first Twisted metalalthough there is a consensus that the second part is preferable. And even if you are in Cool residentsThe series has just selected the second part. The fact that the console does not have an Internet connection, PSN store or memory cards also means that these twenty titles are what we get.

The first impressions of Playstation Classic are mixed. Some games are felt in this nostalgic package, but for the most part, the tooth of time has been hard. The controls and the 3D presentation are often very attractive and the gaming experience is not as good as that offered by the retro devices of Nintendo.

Playstation Classic will be launched on December 3rd. It is possible that the version I tested yesterday is not the final version. Some things can be added to the store version. But the gamut is what it is, and I'm not sure it feels as classic as the Playstation deserves.
