First album of Avantgardets "Too much expensive shoes and dead eyes"published in the spring of 2016. The following year, the sequel came"On the coast is nothing new"Just two and a half years later, the group – consisting of Rasmus Arvidsson, Patrik Åberg, Johan Offerlind, Mattias Täck, Andreas Stellan, Daniel Gilbert, Matti Ollikainen and Theo Gilbert – has completed his trilogy of albums with the release of"Everyone knows the monkey".
So I want to start by praying to my favorite Nybro band, because I accidentally dug myself into a deep musical pit, composed of singer-songwriters and various genres of jazz in a melancholy atmosphere, I completely let go of the fact that plate number three has already arrived.
In order to compensate for the group, I thought "sassa". So it did not take long before I left the first album "Walk of shame"fill my helmet with their slow-moving intro, and just for a moment inside we'll finally hear the beautiful, unpolluted, sleepy voice of Rasmus Arvidsson, who sometimes fails surprisingly.
He is then followed by another banger. This time it's the song "Out at night" as with its nicely populated and poppy peaks, builds a wall of almost sweet sound. The nostalgic atmosphere of the reindeer makes him want to dance around a campfire, under a starry sky and a bit of indie pop, more and more intrusive.
Songs "Homerton high street"and"Everyone knows the monkey"I think it sounds overproduced and good enough to be Avantgardet, but after all, it's a strong point, which in itself is a sign of a smooth, good plate." And Side A Ends the best way with the song "Every street corner " As with a swing studded in the chorus, one of the highlights of the disc records.
The absolute highlight appears in my opinion under song number seven, "Always behind is". The appearance of the guran echoing in the shaking and the beautiful ringing voice of Rasmus generate an extreme sense of recoil that can not be resisted. It almost looks like Pavement's country sound "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain", a small, ostemouth sound that resonates in the infinite with an untrained singer.A tried and tested concept and very effective.
songs "Gutter" and "Find me by the street" are also extremely impressive. It's really amazing how Avantgard managed to collaborate. Spend a lot of well written songs. Even the finish line "Sarajevo"is solid and even has a really heavy climax, a powerful end that gives me the feeling of wanting more from the band, even though I've just spent 44 minutes with them.
One of the style movements As the band becomes very good on the new album, several different instruments are mixed. Sometimes this can also lead to overproduction, but you should not say anything about Jocke Åhlund's talent in the studio. The level is stable, the songs are well produced and you really feel that Avantgard has taken a step forward musically.
Their new sound is almost like a simple rock necklace, at least if you think about the composition of the drums and where the type of music is taken into account. Energetic drums, sizzling songs, deaf and acoustic guitars and sweet piano loops. A very unique mix with a little småländska in addition to this puree.
However, it must be said that it does not go beyond the beginnings, but it's not far from it. I prefer their softer and uncompromising sound, but I appreciate that they test a different sound and climb a little beyond their comfort zone.
In fact, I think it's a bit of a bad time to release this album, because, in my opinion, "Everyone Feels The Monkey" has more of a simple sound. Certainly, I have never seen this band in concert, but this album really makes me want to be a hot summer day in the living room and dancing on "Out of the Night". In a way, Avantgardet still gave a much needed dose of heat here in the cold of November. I guess it's time to see Avantgardet live.
