Formerly, Way Out West's third film festival was proud to present the Swedish premiere of one of the sharpest documentary films of the year: MATANGI / MAYA / MIA ] of Steve Loveridge who has become an innovative musician, controversial superstar and political activist. The film won the grand jury prize at Sundance earlier this year and has since won awards at home in several festivals around the world.

Now the festival can also announce – there are only three weeks left! – that M.I.A. also joins the musical program and will be on the biggest stage of the festival in Slottsskogen on Friday 10 August. An exclusive appearance on Swedish soil and it is the same day as Kendrick Lamar, Ray Fever, Timbuktu, Lily Allen, 6LACK and Miriam Bryant

A star is connecting. Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, known as the MIA artist, is not an artist – his entire career has opened his chin with his art and has become one of the most social reformers influential today. With music as a platform, it has caused explosive boundaries since 2005 and has created a soundtrack different from anything else. When we write in 2018, the classic immortal "Paper Planes" fills 10 years – it is celebrated once again to welcome him to Slottsskogen. M.i.a. play on Friday as Kendrick Lamar, Fever Ray and Lily Allen

Already on the first "Arular", M.I.A. a very clean world – a unique mix of London suburbs, exotic elements from afar, hiphop and electro. Since then, many things have happened, but each outing is characterized by incredible confidence, an attitude and a feeling. The last album "AIM" was a cacthig story with guest artists like Diplo and Skrillex. She attended the famous halftime show at the Super Bowl, Grammy-Honore and now also documentary – a film that will also feature the Swedish premiere at this year's festival. The fascinating story of an artist who is constantly fighting for other people – including women and refugees – will also be playing live on Way Out West. With songs like "Borders", "Bad Girls" and "Y.A.L.A" we can welcome another world star to our scenes. The only correct epithet for an artist such as M.I.A. The model of Stava
