Now Microsoft has confirmed that there will be a budget variant of surface models in August. The new ten-inch is considered a possible competitor of Apple's simplest Ipads.

At 3:00 am Swedish time, Microsoft announced its new Surface Go. Microsoft is calling the model released this fall for their "Smallest, Lightest and Most Affordable Surface to Date."

On the outside, Surface Go can be compared to a smaller version of the Surface Pro 3 2014 model. The new one has a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1,800 x 1,200, 8.3-inch D & D. Thick and a little over half a pound, slightly easier than Surface Pro

Microsoft "budget plate" will be available in two variants, the cheapest GB RAM and 64GB SSD and the more expensive version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD. Both variants will initially only have wifi.

Surface Go will use Windows 10 S and will have an Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor. According to Microsoft, the battery life should be nine hours. Among other features, there is a USB-C 3.1 port and a front camera that allows you to connect to the device with facial recognition.

The budget plate costs more in Sweden

In the United States SEK 3,700 in the monetary value of today. In Sweden, it will start just over a thousand more, $ 499.

The Verge asks which target audience Surface Go really focuses on. The model lies somewhere between the simplest Ipads of Apple and Microsoft Surface Pro or Apple Ipad Pro. While Apple has many apps that are well suited for entertainment and touch screens, Windows 10, according to The Verge, is still hard to come by.

Surface Go is probably not powerful enough to be used as the main computer, says The Verge. That is why it is obvious that it is mainly those who use an Ipad with a Bluetooth keyboard that can be considered as the main target group of the new Surface Go.

Surface Go is available in Sweden on August 28th.
