Niklas Strömstedt about his long career – and completing 60

Celebrate with mom. The 60th birthday of Niklas Strömstedt will be relatively low. "We had a little party the night before and I'm going to have lunch with my mother," he says.

But he did a lot more than just play music. Program Manager, DJ and actor in the "Teskedsgumman"

– It has been amazing to have been full time for this time, says Niklas Strömstedt.

– I did not go to play that day. We have a little party the day before, and I'm going to have lunch with my mom.

How did it last 60 years?

– It's unreal. But I have never had a line of age. Not at 30, 40 or 50 either.

1958 is a great vintage for musicians. Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Kate Bush, Marie Fredriksson, Orup and Peter LeMarc. Is there a reason?

– We were to be in the 1960s, and at least I took over much of the British 60s. But this applies to those who were born even in the other years of the 1950s.

You participated in the Christmas calendar in 1967. "Teskedsgumman" with Birgitta Andersson

– It was the most random. Mom's mate produced, she and dad also had statistics.

"I've always loved the words and the Swedish language"

You grew up with the writing of parents. Mamma Margeta, author and dad Bo, editor of Expressen

– There were many letters in the family. I've always thought it was fun to write, to love Swedish words and language. Not only in song lyrics

Did you also write in the newspapers?

– I wrote chronicles at Veckorevyn for two years, 1977-78. I did not find work at Expressen, so I submitted the chronicles in a pamphlet as an application to Sigurd Glans at Aftonbladet in Klara.

Before becoming a musician, you were a disc jockey

– I started in youth hostels in 1973, then became Gröna Lund and Alexandra. I ended up when I was playing with Uffe from 1979.

What did you learn for years as a musician at Ulf Lundell?

– It was fun to be part of a band, I played in many popular parks that are no longer available. In those years I also played in the band Lasse Lindbom . A good school. I think we did 300 gigs and you had to wear everything and fix it.

"SVT is angry with me"

You started Christer Björkman's career. Do you regret it?

– SVT is angry at me when I said that he was going to sing "Tomorrow is another day" at Melodifestivalen. "You sang on the demon," they said. And then he won and now we have all these competitions.

You have a rock bear 1990 and you agree that it goes up and down in the quarry.

– It is important to not dig. Work hard, take care of your song catalog and find new things.

You wrote lyrics in Swedish for the musical "Mamma mia!" Was the program leader of several television shows

– It's also fun. I thought of doing "Thank you for the music", and now we have recorded more "Together with Strömstedts" which will be released this fall.
