When the Swedish television channel Metropol changed its name in 2015 to become P5 Sthlm, she wanted to become the most social radio channel in Europe. But due to fraudulent audience figures, the channel will be closed in December.

"The P5 Sthlm has started to reach a certain audience with some content, but the listeners have not kept pace and we have chosen to collaborate on a local channel that will interest all Stockholmers" Michael Österlund, assistant program director at Sveriges Radio, in a press release.

Sveriges Radio is now investing resources at P4 Stockholm, with more journalists, extensive evening and weekend coverage and new morning broadcasts in Södertälje. The new Södertälje broadcasts will be on the frequency used by P5 Sthlm until December. New local editors are also open in Flemingsberg, Järva and Norrort.

"Investing in the editorial presence in different parts of Stockholm County in the long term is a way forward for us, we think we can improve, it will be fun to implement. discussion of underdeveloped areas to municipalities further away from big cities, but the problem is that the problem lies in areas more densely populated than we think, "says Michael Österlund in the press release.
