The three musicians of the county, Lamine Cissokho, Mattis Grusell and Johan Hedin, are three of 121 trainees for 2018. Trio receives 100,000 Swedish crowns each and 4.4 million in total are awarded to Silvana Imam and Emil Jensen.
Each year, Svenska Tonsättares Internationella Musikbyrå (STIM) distributes scholarships to Swedish musicians. This year, there are three county musicians among the members.
Lamin Cissokho from Vassmolösa is from Senegal and is engaged in world music. Kalmar's Mattis Grusell, Mindfellaz hip-hop duo, and Edsbruk's Johan Hedin play the harp.
"Not all music creation can be experienced – but with Stim scholarships, we can help increase that opportunity and create incredible new music, no matter what genre you write," says Karsten Dyhrberg Nielsen, CEO of Stim. Stim.
1931 authors apply for a scholarship, of which 121 can receive a scholarship. Applications are evaluated on the basis of artistic activity and quality criteria. The Scholarship Committee strives as much as possible to seek out the diversity and dissemination of artistic forms, representation, age, gender and place of activity. Silvana Imam, Emil Jensen, Alice Boman, Iiris Viljanen, Madi Banja, Nino Ramsby and Andreas Mattsson are among the winners.
