Rasmus Jönsson back to HIF

It is not only Andreas Granqvist who did his first training today in Helsingborg, but Rasmus Jönsson arrived last night with HIF and was introduced this morning.

– It's been a long time since I've seen much to look forward to training.

– I come from the city, I grew up here and, child, I dreamed of playing Olympia. I had to do it, and that feeling is not dead. It's always the same feeling.

He comes without a transfer fee after a period in Odense, where last season he had various problems that made performance and playing time difficult.

– I've had a few years where I missed fun in football. That I have to think that it's fun again. I wanted to take the time to think and make the right decision. I wanted to come to a place where I think it's fun and then have some motivation. So there is no better club for me than HIF.

– In the spring of 2017, I had a very good spring, where I felt really marked for the next season. It started a little half way, then it became a problem with one knee that took me out four to five weeks and then I was not fit. Then it became clear in early spring that we would not play (playoffs). The club and I knew that I would not stay after the summer, so I understand if they want to bet on other players.

You played a lot in Denmark, how do you feel?
– This was also an important factor for me. I feel that I was not really used properly. You do not really have the best of me playing on an edge. It's a bit because I've chosen HIF. They said I would have a more central role as a number ten attacker.

On the official website, President Krister Azelius told us that the agreement will not be a burden on the economy of the association, and Rasmus Jönsson will play with very low wages this fall and that they will discuss the extension in the meantime. All to see which division the association is next year.

– Of all the options I had, it clearly made the worst payment.

– But it was clearly half a year, where you do not earn money at all, but where you find joy, start, and work well. I know how the situation in the club is with the economy, so you can get it like that.

You're not there to just find the violin and go to a new club?
– No, I had to decide, so I had already terminated a longer contract. I would have liked that. This is not optimal with a one – month contract. It's always nice to rest, but it's like that and it's too early to think about it now. You can take it from day to day.

Regarding his physical status, he has not coached since the beginning of June, but he has continued to run and hopes to have playing time in at least one of the training matches of the next week. Has he arrived at his style of play in the years when Jönsson, 28, was in Wolfsburg, FSV Frankfurt, Aalborg and Odense?

– In general, I am the same player. I still live a lot on my fate and in this way I combine and create chances for myself and my playmates.
