Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best for Xbox One X

As you might think, the people at Digital Foundry presented a graphic comparison of Red Dead Redemption 2, which this time included the four consoles – Playstation 4, Playstation 4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X. As one might think , Xbox One X the best version, but it is obviously interesting to know the differences.

The most obvious and easy to compare is the resolution. The Xbox One S works as expected at the lowest and offers 864p, while the Playstation 4 has a much higher resolution of 1080p. The Playstation 4 Pro runs the game in 1920 x 2160 and Digital Foundry writes that it would probably be the checkered pattern used to increase the resolution to 4K. The Xbox One X, however, has a clear resolution, and Red Dead Redemption 2 goes on to fireproof 4K (3840 x 2160) until the worst case of Microsoft. Digital Foundry also writes that they "We have not found any proof of dynamic resolution (DRS) on console versions of the game – the number of pixels is locked".

One would think that the 4K resolution would have a negative impact on the X version as far as updating images is concerned (it is not uncommon for resolutions lower than the usual Xbox One to lead to a takeover of updating images compared to higher resolution Playstation 4 games, which actually apply here), but this is not the case. The Xbox One X version floats better and exceptionally, the update of the image falls. The second best choice is, of course, the Playstation 4 Pro, which flutters in a clockwise fashion but loses video update in the cities, and Digital Foundry adds "clearly not as stable as the X".

When it comes to Playstation 4 and Xbox One S, they both lose significantly with urban performance "with the densest areas reaching low twenty". However, they write that "The Xbox One seems to have a small advantage on the Playstation 4" regarding the actual update of the image.

Fortunately, it does not seem that any of these four versions has captured graphics or the like in the vicinity (as it was between Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in Red Dead Redemption where the latter had such benefits) and the game is "As with all platforms, rendering effects are an almost perfect match, while line distances and pop-ins are just as good, no matter which machine you play it on.".

However, if you want the best version, it's Xbox One X to bet and Digital Foundry ends by saying that it's "the platform of choice – and by a considerable margin".
