A private collector purchased the original manuscript of the author's death in 1992, Alex Haley, but no-one has yet seen the three chapters – in addition to the original manuscript. Another author who, while searching for a biography on Malcolm X, was able to watch them in a quarter of the year under strict supervision, the magazine writes.
Alex Haley, best known for the book "Roots," worked on memoirs with Malcolm X for two years until 1965 when Malcolm X was murdered. The last three chapters were written months before the murder and in stride, describing Haley's cooperation as a not-so-simple process.
The book became a commercial success and was sold in millions of copies. The original complete manuscript, including the three unrolled and now mythical chapters, was purchased by the Schomburg Center for Black Culture Research in Harlem.
